"ProTip: To defeat the Cyberdemon, shoot at it until it dies."
Oh how I miss the times when THIS kind of ProTip was used as a joke... who knew that we'd get this kind of "ProTips" in games nowdays as actual tips and tutorials, oh how low has gaming gone...
Anyways, this monstrosity was drawn as part of
's Doom tribute project.
For those of you who didn't know, Doom has it's 20th anniverssary this year, as the first Doom game was released in Dec. 10 1993. Heh, I can still remember my first time blowing stuff up with the shotgun in that game, hehe, who'd think the FPS genre would go from blowing stuff up in the most badass way (think Doom, Quake or Duke 3D) to boring, repetetive and shallow camper heaven (yes, I'm lookin' at you CoD...).
Heh, anyways, for those who don't remember these times, the almighty Cyberdemon was the Dark Souls of bosses at that time (well, not the only one, Death from Casthevania 1 and the Yellow Demon from the Megaman series could be called the same), packing a huge rocket launcher for an arm (loved the effect when he fired his rockets, hence why I wanted to include it in my art) and towering over you considerable, he surely was an intimidating bastard. And unfortunetealy, yes, the only reliable way to defeat his was to shoot at it until it died, and starting with your most powerful arsenal too, oh, and they forgot to add "Run a whole fucking lot to avoid being killed" as basically all it did was chase you and shoot the beejesus outta you while you desperately try to shoot it back, no patterns, no weak spots, definitely no QTE, just your traditional showdown with one of gamings most terrifying creatures.
Oh, and in case you wonder, yes, that's an actual ProTip - i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/o… , hell, it's from the gys that invented the "ProTip" word, the GamePro magazine. They often had screenshots with tips under them, usually helpful ones. Unfortunately, no other tip could be given in this case, resulting in the most hilarious ProTip given at that time, even resulting in it's own meme - img20.imageshack.us/img20/4279…
